I wanted to paint a woman in prayer. Not religious in the conventional sense, but deeply, privately spiritual. A woman giving something of herself to forces we cannot see or name. While working on this painting, I would sometimes stop and look at her and feel watched. That feeling became part of the work itself. It is in the painting now. You will feel it too.

Description

A woman who prays for all of us. She is entirely dedicated to her purpose. Surrounded by a blue-gold atmosphere, she exists in a solitude that is chosen, not imposed. It is rare to witness such complete focus, but when you observe her still, almost dance-like movement, you understand that it is entirely worth it.

Sometimes her thoughts seem to emerge from within her, projecting their brightness outward toward each of us. And you may find yourself asking: is she watching over you?
