This is the most personal painting in the collection. I am the woman at the centre of the vase. All of these women simultaneously: the girl who still dreams, the friend who listens without judgment, the lover who gives without counting, the mother who protects without condition. Painting her was a form of permission I gave myself, to be contradictory and complete at the same time.
At the centre of the vase is the artist herself, attempting to be all these women simultaneously: a dreamy young girl, a good and attentive friend, a sweet lover, simply a beautiful woman, and a kind and loving mother. This is not an easy path, but she chose it herself.
If you cannot help her, try not to interfere. Do not let her down. Sometimes she is afraid, but she knows what she wants. Be gentle with her, and she will give you her most precious friendship in return.
