I started this painting in 2002 and could not finish it. I kept returning to it across the years and something was always missing. In 2022, I finally understood what it needed: it needed twenty years of living. The woman in the 2002 version was surviving. The woman in the 2022 version knows she deserves to be happy. That shift took me two decades to be able to paint honestly.

One of the paintings on which the artist worked across two distinct periods of her life: first in 2002, and then again in 2022. In 2002, the intention was simply to show a woman from the desert. Two decades later, a new concept emerged for completing the picture, and it changed everything.

What you see today is no longer just a woman with curves. It is a woman who wants to live a balanced life and be truly happy, because she has earned it, and she knows it.
